“You take my hand, I’ll take your hand.
Together we may get away….”
~ Neil Young.
July 1890.
Marguerite ventures out into the fields near her home, but doesn’t realize that Paul sees her sneak out. She finds Vincent in nearby fields and proposes marriage. Vincent tells her that his heart belongs to another, but she doesn’t care and only wants to take care of him and to support him in his work. Vincent relents, leading a delighted Marguerite to hurry home to tell her father the good news while Vincent takes a nap in the fields.
Hearing his name being called, Vincent wakes and spots and angry Gachet aiming a pistol in his direction. The doctor fires three shots but only one hits Vincent in the stomach. He scurries away and hides in a barn while Dr. Gachet collects Vincent’s painting supplies and hides them in his attic.
That night Vincent stumbles into the Inn, causing Louise Ravoux to ask if he’s okay. Vincent waves them off and heads upstairs, followed by Arthur Ravoux who hears Vincent’s moans and immediately summons a doctor.
