“Fame (fame) what you like is in the limo
Fame (fame) what you get is no tomorrow
Fame (fame) what you need you have to borrow…”
~ David Bowie.
November 1991, February & March 1992.
Frustrated by financial difficulties, Dinesh begs Rajani for more money. However, she’s barely holding the tenuous financial “house of cards” together and has no more to send this way. When Dinesh gets confronted by an angry investor over the failed hotel project, he murders the man and goes into hiding. Meanwhile, while Ronit is out having meetings regarding an upcoming film project, Moni confronts Samina and orders her to leave the home. When Samina protests that she doesn’t have feelings for Ronit, Moni punches her in the stomach and storms off.
Michael has enrolled in technical school and is immersed in his studies. However, the financial aid director, Cassie, takes an interest in the school’s top student and asks Michael out for dinner. Happy for a change of pace from working twelve hour shifts when he’s not attending classes, he happily accepts her offer.
Ronit arrives home late at night with news that Samina has been nominated for another FilmFare award for her performance in “Sundar,” and ends up in a loud argument with his wife. Once the argument ends, he confronts Samina to ask about her side of the story, but she refuses to say anything.
Later, Rajani meets with Samina at the Sea Rock Hotel and confides to her that they have money troubles, explaining how her father kept track of everything but didn’t leave any written records or a paper trail as proof of his financial dealings.
