“Just give me something to hold on
A piece of the world that won’t go wrong
Is there somebody there I can talk to…”

August & September 1934.
Kurt hasn’t left the apartment in weeks. Elisabeth and Moshe are finally able to convince him to pay his respects to Oskar’s family. As Kurt and Elisabeth walk to their apartment, she informs him that she’s starting a nursing program at Berlin Charité Hospital, located on the grounds of his campus, and that they’ll be able to spend more time together.
At the apartment, Ernst pulls Kurt aside and shares how he warned his son to take Anna away from Germany, and he begs Kurt to do the same. As Kurt protests that he can’t leave behind the people he loves, Frieda walks in and thanks them for coming. Later, Moshe contemplates closing down the shop since so many of his customers have either moved to the Bavarian Quarter or abroad and laments not being able to pass the shop over to Kurt.
With track season about to start, Kurt races around the track while Elisabeth, in between shifts, watches. Away from the action, Heinrich tracks Kurt’s time and approaches Kurt. Immediately on edge, an angry and distrustful Kurt is surprised to hear that Heinrich expects big things from him this coming track season, including a possible spot on Olympic Team. Once Heinrich leaves, Kurt asks Elisabeth to bring her medical kit to practice. The following day, he cuts his achilles tendon while a shocked Elisabeth tends his wound.
