“You talk to me
As if from a distance
And I reply
With impressions chosen from another time…”
~ Brian Eno.
April & May 1889.
Theo and Jo get married in Amsterdam while Vincent, with the help of the Ginouxs, puts his furniture into storage and ships the remaining paintings to Paris. He writes Theo about the paintings stolen by Gauguin hopes they’ll be returned soon.
In Seville, Samira’s mom has recovered from her illness but she dies while giving birth to her daughter. Meanwhile, the mayor acts on the petition which forces Vincent to leave Arles. With no money and nowhere left to stay, he walks to the St. Paul Asylum in St. Remy. Once there, he’s given two upstairs rooms at his disposal.
Back in Arles, Tiena learns of Samira’s death and shares the news with Madame Chabaud, who agrees to let her leave Arles. At the asylum, Vincent meets his caretaker, Pierre. During their many walks, Vincent does most of the talking believing that Pierre is deaf or unable to speak.
