“So you gotta (so you gotta)
Get ready for me to move
I don’t know you (I don’t know you)
But I’d like to…”
~ Silversun Pickups.
April & May 1963.
During Spring Break, Charlie visits Patrick for the day in Naperville. During a visit downtown, most of the townspeople give them sideways glances as they pass. While leaving Oswald’s Pharmacy, Vossman and Fester nearly run into them as Patrick and Charlie walk in. On the street, Vossman tells Fester that he’s done with April and will ask Mary Jean to the prom.
Back in school, Pat beats up Fester after hearing a racist comment. Colleen gets called to the office, and later visits with the Pastor. Later that night, April talks about the fight with her dad and asks if people in the town really are racist, and he replies that most people are “various shades of gray.” The next day, April follows Pat once more after school. This time, however, they talk, with Patrick sharing how he and Charlie met in Catholic school.
Meanwhile, Liz phones Colleen to share that she’s pregnant. Overjoyed, Colleen plans to visit but Liz asks her to wait until after finals. When Colleen asks how Tony handled the news, Liz changes the subject.
